We do not recommend following current fashion trends. In fact, we take satisfaction in doing quite the opposite. Yet, if you want to inject some newness into your wardrobe or spice up your regular essentials, you should pay attention to what's happening in the often complex world of fashion.
This is not a list of transitory, fleeting fashions. Instead, we've chosen to focus on the future masterpieces that are currently enjoying their moment in the spotlight. These are the pieces we would wear ourselves; they are simple to incorporate into your existing wardrobe and will remain fashionable for years to come.
This year's most wearable men's fashion trends range from the return of military style to the continuation of silhouette relaxation.
Leather
Owing to its good aesthetics, toughness, and enduring allure, leather will continue to be a winter-long trend. A cropped leather jacket is one of the most prudent fashion buys you are going to make. A lifetime investment, it won't be cheap.
Sweatpants
A few years ago, the emergence of athleisure elevated sweatpants from the gym to the casual wardrobe. Yet, if the fall/winter runways are any indication, they have advanced once more, becoming a mainstay of everyday attire.
The elasticized waistline is if the last few years have taught us anything, one of the finest inventions of all time. Understanding this, designers like Dior outfitted nearly all of their models in sweatpants, combining them with tailored clothing and more casual pieces such as bomber jackets.
Floral Prints
In the previous five years, a return to the 1970s has been one of the most prominent trends, and it shows little indication of abating. For the fall/winter season, it presents floral prints reminiscent of grandma's curtains, which is surprisingly wearable. Everyone from Paul Smith to Kenzo has utilized bright flower prints on shorts, shirts, and suits.
We recommend limiting yourself to one striking piece per outfit and keeping the rest of your look subdued.
Huge Checks
Checks are always fashionable in some capacity. Yet for this year's colder months, Black Watch tartan, buffalo, and windowpane are the patterns to watch. One of the easiest ways to incorporate these designs into your everyday wardrobe is by wearing an overshirt or flannel shirt.
All-Over Denim
Denim is one of the greatest materials of all time. It presumably comprises the majority of your current wardrobe, whether in the shape of jeans, shirts, or jackets. Yet, we would not generally recommend wearing a whole denim ensemble. Until we watched the fall/winter performances, that is.
A number of labels, including Kenzo – now led by A Bathing Ape creator Nigo – have merged dark indigo workwear items to make it appear effortless. Choose a casual silhouette and wear it with self-assurance if you're going to try it.
